The Sager Company is well known among collectors for its unusual "Sackless Barrel of Ink" pens that did not use a rubber sac to contain the ink.

Almost completely unknown is that the company also produced mechanical pencils to go with its pens.

So what would the company choose to call the companion pencil?

Why, the "Sackless barrel of ink," of course!  What were you expecting, the "Bucket of Lead?"

There's no question in my mind that the "Pat." on the clip referred to the company's fountain pen.  Although the pencil is very nice, there isn't anything unusual about its workings.
