An interesting array of pencils marked Townsend.  Not bad quality pieces at all, but what is most interesting is the two examples at far left.

Compare the clip on the yellow flattop to those on the Parrott and Postal pages, and compare the clip on the second from left to the National Pen Products model marked Diamond Medal.

Only on the Townsend have I found both Postal and Diamond Medal clips.  It may be coincidence, but I suspect that it offers evidence that all of these pencils had a common origin.

After I wrote this original article, I stumbled across this example, which appears to prove conclusively that Townsend was a National Pen Products Brand.  Compare this to the Diamond Medal Diplomat.
