The Postal Pen was quite an innovation in that it was the first self filling pen that contained the ink in the barrel, rather than in a sac inside the barrel. 

So innovative was the pen that the companion pencils, high quality in their own right, tend to be overlooked.  These examples are identical to pencils bearing the Townsend and Parrott names, and  similar to the National Pen Products model, Diamond Medal
